😵 Unfortunately, transphobia is gaining ground around the world. The United Kingdom is no exception 🇬🇧

Although Britain is, in one way or another, committed to the values of democracy and freedom — demonstrated, for example, by its extensive support for Ukraine 🇺🇦 — it has a very strong anti-transgender lobby that likes to appeal to the concept of “biological sex”.

“Biological women only!!!”

Transgender people’s bodies and rights have become politicised over the past few months as never before in history.

The erosion of transgender people’s rights continues: this time, in the United Kingdom, the Supreme Court ruled that only so-called “biological women” can be considered women, and that sex in general can be determined solely on the basis of so-called “biological sex”.

Transgender women were thus excluded from the accepted definition of “woman”.

J. K. Rowling again?

Once again. The UK Supreme Court’s decision was the result of a long transphobic advocacy campaign by the “feminist” group For Women Scotland against the Scottish Government, actively supported financially by author J. K. Rowling.

The slide includes her post: “In case it wasn’t clear: don’t fuck with Scottish women”, alongside a screenshot of The Daily Telegraph headline “Trans women are not women”.

So what exactly is this “biological sex”?!

Unfortunately, conservative ideas are gaining popularity, along with movements seeking to roll back transgender people’s rights. Appeals to the aforementioned “biological sex” are an integral part of their rhetoric.

Unfortunately, we will not be given any single constructive explanation of the term “biological sex”. That is because so-called “sex” combines numerous characteristics: gonads, chromosomes, hormone levels, secondary sex characteristics, and so on.

In fact, such an explanation will never emerge, because “sex” is a combination of many different traits.

As a result, countless people pay with their comfort, rights, safety and sometimes their lives because conservatives refuse to acknowledge that biology is far more complex than “pistils” and “stamens”.

We will discuss what “sex” is in the next article: “Biological Sex”: Is It Really So Clear-Cut?.
